The geek girlfriend's lament, inspired by Jean's own experiences with college boyfriends who would stay up all night playing Dungeons & Dragons instead of, well, paying attention to their girlfriends.

This song was originally written during the October 2010 session of Ladies Rock Camp, when Erin, Natasha and Jean were joined by Peggy (Jean's sister who played bass) and formed a band for the weekend called Cupcake Coalition.

Level Up

I always wanted a boy so smart
But being with you is gonna break my heart
It's late at night and it's time for bed
But you haven't heard a word I've said

Your fingers are moving and your pulse is racing
But that’s not me, that’s your Playstation
You're high if you think that's the way to score.
Time to level up baby, or I'm out the door.

Pay attention pay attention
Pay attention to me
Step away from the gadgets or we’re history

It’s not like I’m asking you to go to the mall
I don’t need you to talk about your feelings at all
You said you were just gonna Google one thing
I’ve been texting from the bedroom and you’re not answering

Getting new toys really turns you on
But baby it’s time to put that joystick down
You may be cute but I can’t take it no more
Time to level up baby or I’m out the door.

Pay attention pay attention
Pay attention to me
Step away from the gadgets or we’re history
