For years Erin clipped out photos of patios and dreamed of relaxing on them. Then she had a patio epiphany and realized she really wasn't interested in sitting still. This song is about being ok with that.
lyrics
The Patio
One day you’re gonna wake up and find
Life is passing you by and by
Want to get rid of?
There’s no need for you to deny
Something I thought I always wanted
A patio to sit and hang
Drink beers, have parties
Chill out alone or with the band
Spoken word: I finally realized, it is never going to happen
It’s not that I can’t make it happen
It’s just, seriously, I am never going to sit down on that patio
A patio
Would be wasted on me
Instead of getting wasted on the patio
I’m on to the next thing, next thing, next thing
A patio, would be wasted on me
Instead of getting wasted on the patio
I’m on to the next thing, next thing, next thing
Sometimes you just need to let go of
Things you’re never gonna do
Let go of the past
Cause letting go is a virtue
Patio photos I’ve collected
Photos now a pile of tinder
Let go of the dreams
Burned into a pile of cinder
Spoken word: I don’t feel bad about letting go of this dream
I just realized the kind of person I am
There’s just too much going on to sit down on that patio
A patio
Would be wasted on me
Instead of getting wasted on the patio
I’m on to the next thing, next thing, next thing
The next thing, next thing, next thing
The next thing, next thing, next thing
